Artist’s date- Creative craft show

I recently enjoyed a day out at the NEC with a few friends for an artist’s date. A creative day out can rejuvenate your mind, inspire new ideas, and is great for your wellbeing. Once we had navigated the parking and a short walk to the exhibition center, we paused for a coffee. We also enjoyed a Cherry & Almond croissant from the Cornish Bakery and, of course, some people watching.

Keep to the path

I have explored many crafts over the years. It is always fascinating to watch what is trending. It is also interesting to see how some traditional crafts evolve with the seasons. Since my friends have their own creative preferences, we walked the path methodically to reach the heart of our activity. This journey reminded me of walking through a labyrinth—meditative and without dead ends.

Since we booked at short notice, we did not join any planned workshops or the on-stand Make & Takes. There were many options available, including painting, sewing, willow weaving, and needle felting, to name a few.

As always, there are many textile-related options. Many stalls with tempting displays and bold colors attract the buyer.

Have you got a creative date planned?

If you are feeling in need of a boost or trying something new set yourself a date or meet up with some like-minded soul and if not sure what to do why not try some of these ideas:

Start your day with a nature walk. Choose a nearby park, forest, or beach where you can immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. Take a journal with you to jot down any thoughts or inspirations that come to mind. Notice the colors, shapes, and textures around you.

Mindful meditation in nature: Find a quiet spot to sit and close your eyes. Focus on your breathing and let go of any distractions. Allow yourself to be attentive in the moment, opening up your mind to creative possibilities.

Join in an art workshop. Whether it’s painting, pottery, or photography, engaging in an art class can ignite your creativity. Many local art communities offer workshops for all skill levels.

DIY crafting session: If you prefer a more personal setting, gather some crafting supplies and create something new. Try making jewellery, knitting, or even upcycling old materials into something artistic.

By dedicating a day to creative exploration and wellbeing, you open yourself up to new ideas, experiences, and a deeper connection with your creative self. Enjoy the journey and let your imagination soar!
